Community Resource Coordinator-Westside FreeStore

The Westside Free Store Ministries (WFSM) is a faith-based, charitable organization on Columbus’ west side since 2004. Through the volunteer effort and generosity of many people, WFSM serves thousands of people in need each year. We are proud to serve a diverse set of clients. Full meals are served three days per week. The clothing pantry provides seasonal clothing, along with small household items, personal care products, toys, books, and shoes. Recent additions to our programming are a Monthly Diaper Club, Work Ready Clothing program, and Home Starter Kits. Our vision is to continue using the clothing pantry and meals program as a means to further impact the economic stability of the community while providing a place where dignity is preserved and individuals have an increased sense of worth. Volunteers are the backbone of this ministry.

Member Duties : The VISTA will work to improve health outcomes for community members by building the program capacity of Westside Free Store Ministries. To accomplish this goal, they will develop and implement a volunteer and partner recruitment strategy, creating training and retention protocols that will equip volunteers to effectively conduct daily operations. The VISTA will also increase financial support for our site by writing grants and soliciting both in-kind and monetary donations. Ensuring effective communication with partners and volunteers, the VISTA member will deepen relationships in the community, expanding the impact and reach of Westside Free Store Ministries. Finally, the VISTA will create a new program, giving community members who volunteer the opportunity to promote gardening. Benefits include a $200 housing stipend to supplement living costs.
