Our F.A.M.I.L.Y.-Program Development Associate

Our F.A.M.I.L.Y. (Fathers and Mothers Involving Local Youth) develops programs to empower struggling families to improve their quality of life. We develop programs for public schools, libraries and even barber shops to grow appetites for learning. We sponsor science contests and community gardens that teach persons of any age how to grow food and invent something useful. We also make sure they have healthy food for their family through our Summer Food Program and our mobile market delivery service. All of these activities bring people to us to learn about opportunities to improve their own future. Our partner agencies offer assistance with job training, utility bills and legal difficulties. We are the conduit families travel through to a brighter future. We want to expand that conduit so more families can follow their dreams to a life without hunger or financial instability.

Member Duties : As our VISTA, you will build our capacity to better serve residents in the Oberlin and Elyria communities. Collaborating with staff, volunteers, and food insecure households, you will ensure all voices are heard in discussions around food security systems. Recruiting and training volunteers, you will increase community engagement in our programming. You will also refine our communication strategy, building awareness around food insecurity. Finally, you will assess the impact of our programs providing healthy food to the community. Collecting feedback, you will strategize solutions for any identified gaps in our services.
