Hope Dental Clinic VISTA, IAMNCC

Hope Dental Clinic is on a mission to provide free dental care to those most in need, regardless of ability to pay. Founded by Union Gospel Mission in 1965, Hope Dental became an independent nonprofit in 2017, opening its St. Paul clinic in Jan 2018. You’ll join a small but mighty staff in a startup environment providing free dental care via a roster of more than 600 active volunteer licensed clinicians and dental students. These generous individuals who donate their time and talent form the backbone of the organization and the primary focus of your work. Hope Dental partners with many dental education programs in the Twin Cities Metro area and serves as both a training and continuing education site for the local oral health workforce. Dental students gain their first hands-on experience with patients who may never have visited a dentist before, and who often present with challenging conditions including severe decay, chipped and cracked teeth, periodontal disease and more. Established professionals are invited to attend continuing education courses. Volunteers also participate in Mission for Healthy Smiles, an oral health education and outreach program that visits K-12 schools, human service organizations and events throughout the Twin Cities Metro. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. There are three focus areas, this project being in the Health Corps, which supports sites in long-term approaches to the social determinants of health. This includes meeting low-income student needs and a variety of projects with health-focused community organizations. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor . Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
