PHENND Fellows - Youth Engagement Program Coordinator

Since 2009, Mitzvah Circle has helped provide families living in poverty with critical supplies not covered by government assistance programs. The ability to navigate daily life is predicated on ready access to basic necessities. Mitzvah Circle is the only organization in southeastern PA that quickly meets the material needs of whole families, delivering directly to doors. We serve people struggling with poverty, serious illness, crisis, and homelessness, filling a huge, unmet need without barriers or bureaucracy. Our services are often the only way people in areas of deepest poverty can access basic necessities. This provision of life's essential items enables recipients to face adversity with dignity and hope. Mitzvah Circle works towards their mission through direct services to families, a 150 organizations strong partner network, and through engagement with a corps of volunteers

Member Duties : Our Mitzvah Circle Youth Engagement program trains high school students to identify community needs, speak with confidence, and lead volunteer groups. The program was created to engage high school students passionate about creating a better world and provide a place where they can meet others that feel the same way. The program is critical as the participants are trained to lead groups of volunteers in serving our most vulnerable recipients. Through managing this program, the VISTA will be able to reach hundreds of Mitzvah Circle volunteers and many more of our recipients who depend on the services provided by those volunteers. Specifically, the VISTA will 1) Analyze existing processes and procedures of the Youth Engagement program and recommend any necessary changes; 2) Develop outreach activities and new programs. 3) manage communication with students utilizing technology platforms, such as Salesforce and our Volunteer Management System
