Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh Disaster Case Manager

Catholic Charities is the primary social service arm of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh. As a human service organization serving Western Pennsylvania, Catholic Charities is missioned to assist families and individuals, regardless of religious affiliation, at their time of great need. The Disaster Case Management program will expand our current disaster relief efforts, which is limited to providing up to $400 in assistance. We are seeking to go beyond just financial assistance where a case manager works with individuals and families to help them access additional resources. Experiencing a disaster and losing all that you own can be devastating and many individuals are simply overwhelmed. This is where Catholic Charities will provide additional assistance and come alongside the individuals to make sure that they are able to access the resources that they need and coordinate services. Doing so will enrich the financial assistance that we currently provide with case management services. The AmeriCorps members will work in all six counties in which Catholic Charities operates. This approach will permit Catholic Charities to have an integrated program across counties and help the person experiencing a disaster to access both county specific and regional resources.
