AmeriCorps Summer LiteracyCorps
 
 
 
Literacy Mid-South’s AmeriCorps program, LiteracyCorps, is seeking Summer Members to provide literacy support at low-to-no-cost summer programs across Shelby County. Summer Members will be trained in Literacy Mid-South’s K-5 literacy interventions, including interactive read-alouds, phonemic awareness activities, and small-group reading instruction. Members will serve approximately 15 hours per week from late May through early August, engaging students in structured literacy activities, conducting assessments, and supporting low to no fee partnered summer programs. Service locations include various summer program sites throughout the city and the Literacy Mid-South office in midtown Memphis

Member Duties : Work collaboratively with partner staff to facilitate summer programming at assigned site(s). Lead literacy activities including interactive read-alouds, phonemic awareness games, and small-group reading instruction. Conduct literacy assessments such as Reading A-Z evaluations and reading attitude surveys. Assist with program logistics, preparation, and distribution of literacy materials. Participate in community engagement initiatives that promote whole-family literacy. Perform tasks and duties as assigned by the AmeriCorps director, immediate supervisor, and other senior staff members.
