TSC VISTA 2023: MENTOR NY, Programs Support VISTA
 
 
 
The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of low-income communities. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in New York State and across the country. During their term of service members, will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA Leaders.

Member Duties : MENTOR New York serves to diminish the mentoring gap in NY State through capacity building and technical assistance for mentoring and youth development programs; convening partners and elevating the mentoring movement; and advocacy to grow mentoring opportunities. The Programs Support VISTA will collaborate with staff to develop pipeline structure and engagement protocols and develop an outreach plan for new programs. The VISTA will assess existing partnership lists, survey the programs to gauge engagement level, and collaborate on improving systems that track program impact. Additionally, the VISTA will support the development of the NY Mentoring Network Hub by developing marketing materials and procedures to enhance engagement, as well as identify partner program needs to address for future programs. The VISTA’s work will impact the mentoring gap in NYS, improving outcomes for college enrollment and high school dropout rates.
