TSC VISTA 2023: Seneca Street Community Development Corp.
 
 
 
The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of low-income communities. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in New York State and across the country. During their term of service members, will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA Leaders.

Member Duties : Seneca Street Community Development Corporation (SSCDC) partners with neighbors in the Seneca Babcock community to provide a supportive environment to overcome educational, social, and economic barriers. SSCDC provides opportunities for the community to acquire skills that build resilience and self-reliance, enhancing the quality of life for current and future generations. SSCDC has expanded its mission to reach more children and teens through its After School, Teen, and Summer programs. The Youth Development Ambassador VISTA will develop programs to improve academic and social-emotional outcomes for our children and teens. The VISTA will serve in areas of volunteer recruitment, data tracking, and developing training programs to bring 1-1 tutoring and mentoring support. The VISTA will work on partnership development with schools to better understand their academic program needs. Also, the VISTA will research social-emotional tools and develop and implement plans for youth programming.
