Outreach Coordinator VISTA: Hearts and Hands
 
 
 
The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of low-income communities. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in New York State and across the country. During their term of service members, will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA Leaders.

Member Duties : Hearts and Hands connects caring, reliable volunteers with older adults who have essential needs to ensure they can continue living independently in their residence of choice. The Outreach Coordinator VISTA will be responsible for managing relationships within the community for efforts in volunteer recruitment and will provide training opportunities for recruited volunteers. The VISTA will facilitate interviews with volunteers and care recipients for efforts in developing stories that will be written for media purposes. The VISTA will also recruit volunteers with an emphasis on providing transportation to medical appointments and grocery shopping. Through the work collaborating with the outreach team, the VISTA’s work will alleviate poverty by helping older adults who do not have the means to receive transportation for food access or funds for food delivery through services provided at no cost through Hearts and Hands.
