CASA of Jefferson County Volunteer Coordinator

CASA of Jefferson County provides abused, neglected and abandoned children with a highly trained volunteer to advocate for the child's best interest. We are located in Birmingham, AL, just SW of downtown Birmingham which is full of wonderful restaurants, breweries and many historical sites. The VISTA members will develop a plan to better streamline the onboarding of volunteers which includes developing and implementing an online capacity for volunteers to complete paperwork and a process to better track their onboarding with the efforts resulting in a higher number of volunteers moving through the onboarding process more easily and effectively. This process will allow a volunteer to have a smooth transition from recruitment to advocate resulting in more volunteers advocating for abused and neglected children. VISTA members will also develop ways to increase CASA of Jefferson County’s outreach to not only gain volunteers but to raise awareness of CASA by developing and implementing an outreach plan for Child Abuse Awareness Month in April and future awareness events resulting in a larger or different portion of the community interested in volunteering to advocate for children, partnerships that will develop into future partners and funders and a larger base of the community aware of the need for CASA in the Jefferson County. The VISTA member needs to have background in administration or organization and a self starter with innovation and drive to better help CASA's recruitment and educational needs. CASA is a unique organization where we are appointed by a judge to solely work with and advocate for the abused and neglected children-being their voice in the court room and community. "Every child that CASA helps place in a safe home, is one more future adult who was given the chance to thrive and the opportunity to succeed in life"-Catherine S (volunteer advocate). Project period: 9/11/2022-12/2/2023. To find our more information: casaofjeffersoncounty.org.
