Opportunity Council - EMS Communications VISTA

Whatcom County EMS is an integrated system of 14 Fire Departments and Districts serving over 220,000 people in the county. Whatcom County EMS Administration provides the overhead support and financing of the system through a county-wide levy in the areas of first responder response, operations, training, prevention and community outreach activities. Our office includes an EMS Manager, Data Analyst, Training Coordinator, Office Manager and the county Medical Program Director. The goal of this project is to build capacity for the EMS system through the Medical Reserve Corps and the Community Health (GRACE/LEAD/ART) programs by focusing on communications and relationship building that connects these teams. In addition, this program seeks to build collaborations between the emergency response communities and community health systems in response to better serving the vulnerable communities in both the rural and urban settings.
