CHCANYS Public Health AmeriCorps at Sun River Health
 
 
 
Sun River Health provides comprehensive, affordable, quality primary and preventative care to every patient regardless of ability to pay. CHCANYS Public Health AmeriCorps members at Sun River Health will serve in specific roles to support this effort by engaging community members in activities that increase access to care through evidence-based and culturally tailored interventions to increase access to and promote the proper utilization of primary and preventative health care services, health insurance, and benefits programs. 1) AmeriCorps members support patients' transition of care from hospital-based to primary care settings, improving patients' and community health outcomes. 2) AmeriCorps members deliver youth development programming including a range of health education, nutrition education, and other related programming to encourage healthy behaviors and increase health literacy among community youth in a variety settings, including among urban and rural youth, and the families of seasonal and migrant farmworkers. 3) AmeriCorps members coordinate research endeavors and play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of research-driven processes that empower patients to become active participants in their health and the health of their families and community. Sun River Health is partnered with CHCANYS in seeking AmeriCorps members for its 2023-2024 Public Health AmeriCorps program. AmeriCorps members do not provide health services related to prohibited activities. CHCANYS Public Health AmeriCorps at Sun River Health members receive a Living Allowance of $27,000, in addition to other benefits including transportation expenses and health insurance. Members also receive extensive Public Health training and professional development and an Education Award of $6,895 at the successful completion of their term.

Member Duties : AmeriCorps members at Sun River Health will serve in specific roles to support this effort by engaging community members in activities that (1) increase Access to care (2) support patients' transition of care (3) deliver youth development programming and (4) coordinate research endeavors. AmeriCorps members do not provide health services related to prohibited items or activities as is outlined in detail during orientation.
