Community Garden Coordinator VISTA - Year 1
 
 
 
Texas Southmost College seeks to leverage best practices and build capacity to dramatically reduce the effects of poverty and increase student retention and completion rates through this project. The community garden will be managed in partnership with a local community-based organization and will supply fresh produce to the local food pantry, while providing educational and volunteer opportunities for students and the greater community. The VISTA will: provide leadership for community garden activities during project start-up to develop and refine systems and processes, create sustainability plan for community garden maintenance, and develop and implement an evaluation plan.

Member Duties : The VISTA will provide leadership for community garden activities during project start-up. The VISTA will develop and refine systems and processes such as developing a volunteer schedule, developing a calendar of workshops and events, develop outreach templates to promote activities, and manage volunteers for the first six months to inform development and fine tuning of standard operating procedures to guide such management thereafter.
