Volunteer Coordinator – AmeriCorps VISTA

As the Volunteer Coordinator VISTA member at Communities In Schools of Nevada, you will help with our mission to help children unlock the unlimited potential they have but which may not be accessible to them due to inequities of opportunities to succeed. Your work will focus on surveying staff members on potential volunteer roles, updating volunteer procedures, trainings, scheduling, and actively recruiting and managing volunteers while focusing on the future sustainability of the program. Communities In Schools of Nevada currently serves 90,000 students at 91 high-poverty schools throughout the state. With more than 120 + community partners, we coordinate resources and services — literally bringing the community into our schools — to do whatever it takes to support the students we serve. You will collaborate with CIS staff to identify volunteer opportunities and how to communicate those opportunities to the larger community. In addition, you will have the chance to work with seasoned nonprofit administrators and program personnel and network with other nonprofits and community partners. Applicants should be able to successfully work independently, be organized, have strong writing skills, and have a passion for helping students achieve in life. This position will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid in-person and remote model.
