2022-2023 Support Services Specialist VISTA
 
 
 
This Support Services Specialist VISTA will be hosted by Oak Park Regional Housing Center in Oak Park, IL. Oak Park Regional Housing Center is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. The role of this position is to support various data collection and reporting efforts, update and maintain internal databases, build the agency’s donor base, continue building a volunteer corps, and educate the public about housing choices and fair housing practices. These positions involve a significant amount of communication and creating a positive agency image in the public and private spheres. Documentation and recording of measurable outcomes to accurately outline the agency’s activities and successes is a primary focus. Experience working with data collection, integrity and reporting, database management, and building graphs is a must. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys social and community service, as well as interacting with and assisting others. Must have good listening skills, followed by the ability to direct various folks to meet their needs. Must be trustworthy and maintain confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to achieve set goals. They should enjoy working on teams as well as independently. The AmeriCorps members will work closely with the Executive Director, Associate Directors, WCHC Program Manager, and other staff as necessary.

Member Duties : 1. Participate in agency onboarding, program orientation, and weekly staff meetings. 2. Spend time with the staff at both offices in order to become familiar with all agency programs and resources, responsibilities, and tasks. 3. Perform assigned research regarding fair housing and residential integration. 4. Collect past and present client data, property owners and managers, donors, community partners, and media. 5. Assess collected data to identify gaps and opportunities. 6. Monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to various funders. 7. Manage tables at community events to engage with community members and leaders, sometimes during evenings and weekends. 8. Support staff preparation for fundraisers and other public events. 9. Prepare funder folders. 10. Assist marketing efforts.
