Public Health AmeriCorps

Association House AmeriCorps members will work as a service team, with individual members placed in pairs in programs addressing specific community needs. Across each program, AmeriCorps members will act as health educators, counselors, and systems navigators, helping participants learn to manage their health and increasing community knowledge of healthy behaviors. As local community members, recruited for their cultural competence, language proficiency and unique understanding of community needs, AmeriCorps members will be able to quickly gain participant and community trust, and will also be effective in building community partnerships to enhance program impact and participant success. Through the program, AmeriCorps members will also gain significant knowledge of public health issues and careers, as well as their own potential for impact, creating a pipeline of future community-based public health professionals.
