County Equity Vista

The Climate Equity VISTA will help the state’s Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (Commission) operationalize its mission through the Climate Ready Hawaii VISTA cohort. The mission is to promote ambitious, climate-neutral, culturally responsive strategies for climate change adaptation and mitigation in a manner that is clean, equitable and resilient. Hawaii is a small state with big ambitions and big actions–especially when it comes to addressing climate change. In response to the Paris Agreement, Hawaii created the Hawaii Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (Commission). The Commission’s priorities are captured in its two statements, on ground transportation emissions reduction and adaptation to sea level rise, including disaster recovery preparedness. As a member of the U.S. Climate Alliance, we believe that smart, coordinated State action can ensure that the U.S. continues to contribute to the global effort to address climate change.
