NCNMEDD_NCNMEDD Rural Partners Network VISTA
 
 
 
NCNMEDD serves an 8 county region in North Central New Mexico. The VISTA member will be based out of our Santa Fe office. The VISTA will support the implementation of the new USDA Rural Partners Network program. This collaborative initiative among federal agencies and local partners intends to advance equitable rural prosperity through local job creation, infrastructure development and community improvement to benefit everyone who lives in a rural community. The VISTA member will support the USDA Rural Partners Network in these four counties: Taos, Mora, San Miguel, and Colfax. The VISTA member will work closely with NCNMEDD staff, government, and non-profit partners in each of the four counties, and the USDA Rural Partners Network staff. The VISTA will gather data and information to identify and assess disadvantaged communities in the region based on resource gaps, preparedness, and capacity, to enable NCNMEDD to effectively provide ongoing support services and to augment the new USDA Rural Partners Network pilot program serving the region. The VISTA member will support the efforts of the network to develop a.) a broad strategy to make it easier for all rural communities to access a full range of federal programs and funding opportunities, and b.) a focused localized strategy for in-depth, place-based community economic development support. Job duties will include some travel, a great deal of networking, and professional development in related fields. The ideal candidate will have strong research skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow up in order to move projects forward.

Member Duties : The VISTA will compile economic data to provide communities with information for benchmarking comparisons, policy development, funding requests; will research historical allocation of awards like EDA, USDA, CDBG, NM Capital Outlay, etc. to identify resource allocation gaps; will work with State of NM agencies and regional partners to develop survey/audit processes to assess local capacity and ability to effectively plan, fund, manage and administer development projects; will develop a web-based resource summarizing and providing links to state and federal programs such as: ICIP (Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan), CDBG, Capital Outlay processes, USDA, EDA, HUD, EPA Brownfields, and other resources to support community revitalization, affordable housing, and economic development in our region; and will work with NCNMEDD staff to learn, understand, and engage with the new USDA led Rural Partners Network pilot program to support the success of the initiative in our region.
