NCNMEDD_NCNMEDD Rural Partners Network VISTA

NCNMEDD serves an 8 county region in North Central New Mexico. The VISTA member will be based out of our Santa Fe office. The VISTA will support the implementation of the new USDA Rural Partners Network program. This collaborative initiative among federal agencies and local partners intends to advance equitable rural prosperity through local job creation, infrastructure development and community improvement to benefit everyone who lives in a rural community. The VISTA member will support the USDA Rural Partners Network in these four counties: Taos, Mora, San Miguel, and Colfax. The VISTA member will work closely with NCNMEDD staff, government, and non-profit partners in each of the four counties, and the USDA Rural Partners Network staff. The VISTA will gather data and information to identify and assess disadvantaged communities in the region based on resource gaps, preparedness, and capacity, to enable NCNMEDD to effectively provide ongoing support services and to augment the new USDA Rural Partners Network pilot program serving the region. The VISTA member will support the efforts of the network to develop a.) a broad strategy to make it easier for all rural communities to access a full range of federal programs and funding opportunities, and b.) a focused localized strategy for in-depth, place-based community economic development support. Job duties will include some travel, a great deal of networking, and professional development in related fields. The ideal candidate will have strong research skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow up in order to move projects forward.

Member Duties : The VISTA will: 1) Introduce the RPN program and its objectives by formal presentations to local government leaders and key decision makers in order to solicit information on specific needs & projects of the communities & residents of Mora, San Miguel, Colfax and Taos counties in north-central New Mexico; 2) to collaborate with targeted RPN community networks through activities such as providing technical assistance in researching programs, services, resources, and funding at federal, state and local levels that meet the needs of local communities and its residents; and 3) to facilitate community and economic development activities and capacity building in targeted RPN community networks within the district.
