Member Duties : The Food Security and Volunteer Organizer VISTA will develop and administer systems to build reliability into the delivery and staffing of the Central Community Garden by using the Aplos Client Management System. The VISTA will work with Central’s Food Program and Garden team to categorize all volunteers, according to interests and talents – so that these lists can be used to notify volunteers of opportunities to serve. The Food security portion of the program is based on a 25+-year old community garden. Quarterly the VISTA will then suggest how we can attract more participants in garden classes, including nutrition, composting, Spring/Fall Garden make-over stock, and garden renovation that is needed to replace aging and decaying individual plot boundaries. This will be used to make them more efficient and increase the amount of food that can be handled. If you are interested in this position once you have applied please send your resume and cover letter to volunteercorps@laworks.com.
