DAPI Mentor Program

The Delaware Adolescent Program, Inc. (DAPI) was founded in 1968 in New Castle County to afford pregnant teenagers a means by which to continue their education and receive prenatal care. The program became a national model and provided vital support to students when directed to leave their home schools when they became pregnant. The program quickly expanded across the state and continues to serve hundreds of girls yearly in our New Castle, Kent, and Sussex County Centers. Our AmeriCorps Team will include (3) part-time Mentor Coordinators, one in each county in Delaware. The Mentor Coordinator is a Three-Quarter Time position, requiring 1200 service hours by August 31, 2026, to receive a total Education Award. The members will attend the AmeriCorps sponsored orientation, training, and events as required, which can be virtual or at locations in Delaware. Members may be required to attend meetings and events in other DAPI Centers occasionally and event locations. Attendance at these meetings, events, direction, and exercise is credited to service hours. Benefits Upon Completion of Service: A Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for individuals who complete a term of service and can be used to pay for a range of educational expenses, like repaying qualified student loans or future tuition payments. Members can earn up to two full Education Awards with multiple service terms.
