Build Up Families - Communications and Community Engagement

Springfield Promise Neighborhood's (SPN) mission is as simple as it is difficult -- that young people served by SPN will achieve high school graduation and the attainment of skills necessary to get a good paying job or pursue higher education opportunities. SPN seeks motivated, passionate, committed individuals who can help us build community-led change, support resident leaders, build relationships with area providers and partner organizations, and innovate new ways of community development, leadership, investment, and engagement. The long-term goal of poverty alleviation depends upon the academic and social success of children such as those who attend Lincoln, Kenwood, Perrin Woods, and Fulton Elementary schools and the neighboring communities who reside in the south side of Springfield, Ohio. These students reside in highly mobile and under-resourced communities lacking playgrounds, day care facilities, and the kind of enrichment and civic associations that mark a vibrant place to live and raise a family. Academic and social growth requires that children benefit in their development, particularly in their earliest years, from the interactive support of thriving schools and thriving communities.
