Family Navigation and Peer Support
 
 
 
As part of notMYkid’s Family Navigation and Peer Support AmeriCorps Program, members will serve as Family Navigators in Maricopa County communities to address teen drug use and mental health challenges while serving at schools and pediatrician offices. Members will receive training and certification in Peer Support. Assist families in navigating the mental/behavioral healthcare system, connect families to NMK program and services, refer families to outside services when necessary. Family Navigators provide education, guidance, resources, and assisting families to access and navigate the behavioral healthcare system.

Member Duties : Provide monthly education on prevention, early-intervention, treatment, and recovery resources. Host weekly parent support meetings (in-person and online) at Member Service Locations. Provide daily Family Navigation services. Participate in local coalition and outreach activities on a monthly basis. Work in collaboration with the parents/caregivers ,Peer Support, Host Site Supervisor, and notMYkid AmeriCorps Program Manager on a bi-weekly/monthly basis. Member roles include: assisting families in navigating the mental/behavioral healthcare system, c connect families to NMK program and services, refer families to outside services when necessary, provide education, guidance and resources. Member roles DO NOT include: being a therapist, being a superhero, policing youth, telling families what to do, being a spokesperson, being the star, being their friend or babysitter.
