Safe Routes to Health - National Kidney Foundation

Safe Routes to Health AmeriCorps Program at Michigan Fitness Foundation (SRTH) focuses on addressing unmet health needs in underserved, low-income communities. It was developed by assessing both barriers to healthy living and opportunities to overcome those barriers. Using a multigenerational approach to reach across an entire community, SRTH engages AmeriCorps members to connect citizens to health, wellness, and physical activity programs by implementing program elements and recruiting local community volunteers to create sustainable change. Each member is assigned a site supervisor who provides mentorship, supervision, and access to professional development opportunities at the host site. Members also participate in ongoing professional development, team-building, and at least two outside/group service activities with the SRTH statewide team. Members will receive training in a variety of areas to support service projects, gain valuable skills, and real-world experience. SRTH members at National Kidney Foundation of Michigan will serve 450 hours over 5 months. The planned start date is May 1, 2023 – September 30, 2023. TO APPLY: please complete the member application linked here and email your resume and cover letter to the Program Director.
