Age-Friendly Austin Community Engagement Specialist VISTA
 
 
 
The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capaciy, in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

Member Duties : Create policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of the Communication and Community Engagement Plan. Review existing policies and procedures related to Age-Friendly Austin's Communication and Community Engagement Plan. Review community feedback to be incorporated into a revised Plan. Create a more-inclusive and wider reaching version of the Plan. Identify and strengthen community partnerships, with emphasis on building capacity within historically black, hispanic, and Asian/Pacific Islander neighborhoods, as well as low-income communities in eight targeted ZIP codes. Review and assess community resources for areas of growth and partnership potential. Develop an age-friendly community toolkit to strengthen and enhance a better understanding of the Age-Friendly Program. Complete an evaluation of the Age-Friendly Action Plan and related program efforts to ensure benchmarks and metrics align with the City of Austin's Strategic Direction 2023 Plan.
