AmeriCorps Georgia Relay Teaching Program

The AmeriCorps Georgia Relay Teaching Program (AGRTP) aims to reduce the achievement gap, thus preparing all PK-12 students for college readiness by creating a pipeline of committed, and well-prepared teachers through National Service for high needs communities. In close partnership with local public schools, Relay provides high-quality training and support and meaningful AmeriCorps service experiences to better equip teachers to work in schools long-term and grow student learning. We believe that investing in local, performance-driven talent will directly lead to improved student outcomes in education and teacher turnover. The program is designed specifically for recent college graduates and career changers who are looking for a supportive pathway into the teaching profession. Members will enroll in a one or two-year program, serving full-time as teachers in high-needs schools in Atlanta. In addition to hands-on experience, members will receive a blend of training from Relay, including rigorous curriculum, observations, and counsel. Throughout the program, members will be enrolled as graduate students at Relay. Relay’s curriculum is designed to teach new and existing educators how to manifest high academic expectations, and develop rigorous, data-driven lessons. Successful graduates receive their teaching certification, advanced certification, and may go on to earn a master’s degree from Relay after the second year of the program. Upon completion, they will be able to demonstrate pedagogical mastery and have a clear pathway into a job.
