Athens, Hocking, Vinton Community Outreach Specialist
 
 
 
The 317 Board is responsible for seeing that public mental health and alcohol/drug recovery services are available to the residents of Athens, Hocking & Vinton counties. As an AmeriCorps VISTA member, you will assist with enhancing the public image and information sharing of the 317 Board through print and electronic outreach materials, development of public awareness campaigns, and representation at public community events. This project will strengthen the 317 Board’s ability to actively engage with local partner agencies and community members while educating the public about mental health and addiction disorders, needs and local resources. The VISTA member will assist the Communications & Community Engagement Specialist with policy development, content creation and educational resource distribution through various methods of communication.

Member Duties : Plan, produce, and schedule social media content for the 317 Board’s Facebook and LinkedIn pages. Make updates to and publish news articles to 317Board.org. Produce a bi-weekly email newsletter advertising grant opportunities and event information to contract agency employees and members of the public. Evaluate website content to update or delete outdated information. Develop print promotions (flyers, posters, etc.) for Board hosted or sponsored events. Represent the 317 Board at community engagement events such as Overdose Awareness Days or Athens County’s Community Day of HOPE. Assist the Communications and Community Engagement Specialist in the development of public awareness campaigns related to mental health stigma and substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery. Aid the Communications and Community Engagement Specialist in the development of brand standards and social media policy.
