Three Rivers Rowing Association Development & Outreach VISTA

Three Rivers Rowing Association (TRRA) is a community-based rowing and paddling organization that develops and delivers safe, sustainable, and inclusive programs and events that teach and promote the benefits of rowing and paddling to a diverse community. TRRA owns and operates two campuses on the Allegheny River just north of downtown Pittsburgh. The Washington’s Landing campus is located on Washington's Landing with the Millvale Campus & Training Center located on the adjacent river bank in the Borough of Millvale. TRRA is one of the largest community rowing organizations in the US. TRRA has taken the challenges posed by the pandemic as an opportunity to pause, reflect, evaluate, and grow as an organization. While diversity, equity, and inclusion have always been core values of TRRA, we have struggled to establish consistent experiences and opportunities that foster these values. This past summer, the TRRA Board of Directors established the TRRA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committee to focus on these values and elevate our organization in each of these areas through meaningful actions and purpose. Our VISTA will work closely with our program and fundraising teams to build on the development of a program that takes rowing to the community and introduces the sport directly to middle schools, community centers, and other nonprofit organizations that serve youth and families in under-resourced communities. By bringing the sport of rowing to communities we will be able to introduce the sport without barriers and build excitement around the advancement opportunities that rowing can provide. We are looking for a dynamic person who can communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, can work independently or as part of a team, and has excellent writing and time management skills. Rowing knowledge and experience is preferred but not required. Our VISTA will begin in October of 2022.
