916 Ink Volunteer Liasion

916 Ink, Sacramento's arts-based creative writing and literacy tutoring organization, transforms Sacramento youth into strong readers, confident communicators, and published authors; and Square Root Academy, providing STEAM programs to underrepresented youth while emphasizing collaborative learning, innovation, and academic excellence. We provide high-quality opportunities in class and after school that champion academic exploration, self-reflection, and academic re-engagement. As a result, our programs can de-escalate stress, build social cohesion, improve academic performance, and foster community resilience. By providing high-quality, arts-integrated enrichment in core subject areas, underserved student subgroups can improve their academic attitudes, academic behaviors, and experience social-emotional development, all of which are long-term predictors of success. These opportunities will take place with workshop facilitators in peer-directed after-school or in-class workshops, and one-to-one tutoring sessions for striving readers.
