Ready Readers of Kershaw County
 
 
 
Ready Readers of Kershaw County is a United Way program of service in partnership with Kershaw County School District, and AmeriCorps of South Carolina. Working together we train and place AmeriCorps members and Community Volunteers in each of our elementary schools across our county. The focus of Ready Readers is to work primarily with our early readers who are struggling to read. We know that literacy lifts lives out of poverty and by reading to children early and often we can better prepare them for success. Those who choose to serve in our community will be partners in our schools. This program works as a team with our AmeriCorps members, students, community volunteers, District reading coaches, and other school staff members to make a impact in the literacy levels in our community.

Member Duties : AmeriCorps Members in our program will be serving directly with students, teachers, and reading coaches in our elementary schools across the county. As a Ready Ready member you will be trained and placed at a specific elementary school. Utilizing our literacy resources you will be equipped to work with struggling readers.
