Urban Strategies Economic Development VISTA

USI’s mission is to support residents in community while supporting them to see their vision actualized. USI has a long history of working alongside residents to ensure that their families and children are stable and thriving. The USI Vista will support this mission by working with the team, residents, and partners to create an action plan to support community across the core pillars of economic development, education, health & wellness, and leadership and capacity building. The VISTA carrying out this work will be dedicated to the mission, flexible and adaptable, and possess strong communication skills to work with a variety of stakeholders to realize this mission. The VISTA will learn and develop with the organization, working closely with staff, to accomplish objectives around the core pillars. VISTA’s work will ensure that structures are in place to meet residents where they are at, assist in resourcing them and grow the capacity of organizations and individuals to best achieve these results. The VISTA will work in the community, primarily from the office space at the Legacy Pointe at Poindexter and get hands on experience with a variety of stakeholders while building their own experience, knowledge and skills. The VISTA Member will primarily focus on planning, development, and operationalization of the action plan. The specific responsibilities will include researching the service needs as well as barriers for residents; developing programs; assisting with partnership development; grant writing; volunteer management; project evaluation; and sustainability planning.
