'23-'24 Mobile Food Bank Coordinator at MADF

Making a Difference Foundation (MADF) alleviates poverty by focusing on improving access for the most vulnerable populations in Pierce County: home-bound elderly or individuals with disabilities in subsidized housing who cannot come to our food bank, Eloise’s Cooking Pot, and individuals who live in underserved communities across the county. The VISTA will reduce these barriers by developing a delivery system to provide food and non-food items, including hygiene supplies, household products, and pet food. The program will be available 5 days a week during varied hours at several locations in Tacoma, WA. The VISTA will build capacity by increasing the number of clients we serve to at least 3000 and manage 50 new volunteers.

Member Duties : In this capacity-building, indirect service position, you will develop, implement, and improve Making A Difference Foundation's systems for setting up and preparing deliveries out in the community and pickups at the food bank. You will work with the food banks to log and track food going out for delivery. You will also recruit, train, and mobilize volunteer delivery drivers, strengthening our volunteer management system. The core principles of all VISTA positions are 1) a focus on ending poverty 2) empowering the community 3) building long-term solutions, and 4) capacity building for an organization, rather than providing services directly to individuals in need. This position is part of a regional cohort - Greater South Sound VISTA, a program of United Way of Thurston County.
