Pacific Voices Community Navigator

Pacific Voices is a safe-space after-school program focused on helping participants stay rooted in their cultures and traditions, assisting with homework, and helping families access KKV clinical and community programs. The program has recently expanded into Kalihi Elementary school and intends to outreach to more families in Kalihi Valley Homes and other parts of Kalihi. Currently, there are 26 student participants with 15 active online and in-person activities (tutoring, games, art activities, etc.). Additionally, the program currently helps 19 student families access services at KKV and other organizations relating to financial relief, food support, health programs, and immigration document support. VISTA activities include: (1) volunteer recruitment and management (2) database creation and management (3) story-gathering sessions with the community and (4) cultivating partnerships with other KKV programs and departments and outside organizations. The VISTA will have opportunities to be trained in mandatory reporting, de-escalation, trauma and resiliency informed care, civil rights, compliance, emergency preparedness, KKV’s Pilinaha four connections framework, and medical interpretation (if applicable and interested). Kalihi residents and those familiar with the Kalihi area preferred.
