International Institute- Immigration Services

The International Institute of St. Louis (IISTL) is our community’s immigrant service and information hub. Our programs and services for immigrants, their families, and the wider community are locally and nationally-acclaimed. We connect new arrivals with first-touch services and resources, engage foreign-born and the wider community, and build a more inclusive community. The International Institute of Metro St . Louis has for over 100 years served the St. Louis foreign-born community. The mission is to build a more connected and productive society to benefit immigrants, their families, and the wider community. Serving at the International Institute of St. Louis provides a wide variety of experiences and opportunities for growth. During the 11-month program, a total of 6 AmeriCorps State Members will be serving in various capacities at the agency. Along with providing direct services to newly arrived refugees from various countries and ethnicities, Members will actively participate in annual agency events such as the Festival of Nations and assist with volunteer recruitment activities. Member training will include an initial orientation, CPR/First Aid certification, disaster preparedness/response, professional development, Life-After AmeriCorps, the Show-Me Conference and more. Members will also serve the greater St. Louis community through service days such as MLK Day. Speaking a language used by clients is not a requirement, but can be helpful.
