OHA Harm Reduction and Overdose Prevention VISTA (Portland)

This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide AmeriCorps VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority AmeriCorps Project, please visit: http://healthoregon.org/vista. Selections are made on a rolling basis and early applications are strongly encouraged. The last day to submit an application is Sunday, July 31st, 2022. The Health Systems Division (HSD) works with partners statewide to build and advance a system of care to create a healthy Oregon. This includes managing the Oregon Health Plan (OHP), Oregon's Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program. HSD ensures that health system transformation works for all Oregonians in several ways, including making the OHP member experience simpler and easier, developing business and operational policies for the Oregon Health Plan, addiction services and behavioral health delivery systems, contracting with CCOs, mental health programs and other partners to support community-based health services and oversee compliance with state and federal regulations, and more. All the work our division does is to ensure that individuals and families can get the physical and mental health services they need. With the OHP, the goal is to serve low-income community members and alleviate poverty while ensuring that each Oregon can play, live and have optimal health. If you enjoy being outside within driving distance of water, parks and mountains, there is something in Portland for you. A successful candidate would have excellent communication skills and a desire to learn. We value applicants who can bring lived experience to further OHA’s strategic goal to eliminate health inequities by 2030.
