Our office is commitment to turn city government inside out and provide pathways to action and impact for every resident through service to build capacity and address to solve some of our city’s most intractable poverty-related problems. We are currently seeking candidates that are enthusiastic, organized, and have a passion for community interaction. One ABQ VISTA members will serve alongside senior level city staff to help create a best in class, youth engagement program for city departments and community partners that includes volunteer service and civic learning and interaction. Member will also support programs with health, housing and homelessness providing support and resources to unhoused members of the community. City Hall is a great place to learn new skills and grow your professional network! This Service Opportunity Listing is designed to support youth engagement work and the unhoused members of our community. The VISTA Service Member selected for this role will focus their work on designing a sustainable youth engagement program and interacting with the community finding volunteers that will also support these programs. The start date is May 5, 2025, and the service term ends May 6, 2026. If you are moving to serve from outside of Albuquerque, you will enjoy a multicultural experience, beautiful open skies and clean air with lots of outdoor recreation opportunities. Member Duties : Our mission: To foster civic engagement among Albuquerque residents by creating meaningful volunteer opportunities, enhancing access to city governance, and empowering individuals to shape decisions impacting their lives. We amplify civic energy, helping residents recognize and use their collective power. VISTA members strengthen these efforts by expanding access to resources and fostering collaboration to uplift communities and reduce poverty. VISTA members will: 1) Co-design and launch civic engagement programs that connect residents to the city. 2) Work with City depts. to align initiatives with strategic priorities and build capacity. 3) Develop ptrshps with community and educational orgs to expand civic leadership. 4) Support outreach and initiatives that connect residents to impactful volunteer opportunities. VISTA members help drive systemic change, equipping individuals and communities with the tools to advocate for themselves and create pathways out of poverty.
