NeighborWorks Green Bay - Community Engagement Specialist
 
 
 
NeighborWorks Green Bay (NWGB) and its next-door subsidiary The Farmory are on a mission to create healthy and sustainable communities. NeighborWorks Green Bay is a nationally recognized, community-leading institution with a track record of success in helping people secure affordable decent housing and set themselves up for economic self-sufficiency. The Farmory, launched in 2016 by NWGB, employs low-income neighbors in sustainable urban agriculture, developing job skills by growing healthy fish and greens for the community. We seek a VISTA with a passion for community and urban agriculture who can build our organizations’ capacities to tell our story and build community around our mission, our business, and our neighborhoods. Our VISTA team member will: • Develop social media and fundraising strategies to engage the community with our work • Design project-based community-building events • Create new pathways for local corporations to engage employees in hands-on projects • Design strategies and create systems for engaging volunteers in community-building work • Create tools that encourage and support NeighborWorks Green Bay clients to connect with their local neighborhood associations A successful VISTA will bring the following qualities: • Passion for community and environmental sustainability • Enthusiasm for forging new relationships • Relevant experience or educational training in marketing, social media, fundraising, or volunteer management • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Self-motivation and ability to work independently • Ability to be flexible and adapt to a diverse workload We are excited to share with our VISTA the following learning and growing opportunities: • Participate in the power of collective action • Work with a diversity of people and projects • Develop deeper understanding of sustainable practices

Member Duties : Social media development: identify strategies, set a calendar, develop content and implement an evaluation protocol. Community event management: Develop an event marketing strategy, create a system for matching people’s strengths to volunteer opportunities, co-lead support with planning committees, sponsorship solicitation, and event logistics. Corporate volunteer development: Identify local corporations seeking volunteer opportunities and match with projects. Connect clients to neighborhood associations (NAs): Create a customizable neighborhood association marketing piece, develop protocols for introducing NWGB clients to their NAs or to form/re-reform where they do not exist. Volunteer recruitment: Develop a strategy to match people’s gifts of the head, hands and heart with volunteer needs in our organization, and develop strategies for ongoing engagement.
