Under the supervision of the Director of Community Impact, spearhead efforts to increase capacity for disaster preparedness activities with a focus on one of five critical community issue areas. homelessness/unhoused individuals; education; food security; environmental justice; and health and wellness.

Member Duties : Each VISTA will work directly with 4-5 nonprofits to: Establish systems, create capacity, and train volunteers for bi-monthly signature projects; Assist with community-based volunteer recruitment by designing recruitment material and volunteer roles for disaster preparedness campaigns; Develop a written, customized Emergency Operations Plan (EOP); Create two to three pre-drafted opportunities in Salesforce database for rapid deployment for each CBO so that volunteers can be recruited immediately after a disaster hits; Create two to three opportunities in Salesforce database for each CBO for existing volunteer capacity-building needs; Manage issue-specific recruitment landing pages on L.A. Works’ website; creating and managing targeted recruitment postings per issue area; and Hold a community convening every six months If you are interested in this position once you have applied please send your resume and cover letter to volunteercorps@laworks.com
