The Franklin Park Zoo Outreach & Research Associate VISTA member will build the capacity of Franklin Park Zoo by assisting with outreach, coordination, and relationship building to support the design of asset-based educational programming in Boston, Massachusetts. The Zoo will be working extensively in the Suffolk County, Massachusetts, where 24.1% of children ages 0-17 and 17.5% of all people live in poverty. The Zoo’s targeted educational design will help alleviate poverty in this region. As a result of the VISTA member’s service, the Franklin Park Zoo will design effective and valuable educational programming that builds upon the strengths and assets of neighborhoods close to the Zoo in Suffolk County.
