Franklin Park Zoo Co-design Associate 2
 
 
 
The Franklin Park Zoo Outreach & Research Associate VISTA member will build the capacity of Franklin Park Zoo by assisting with outreach, coordination, and relationship building to support the design of asset-based educational programming in Boston, Massachusetts. The Zoo will be working extensively in the Suffolk County, Massachusetts, where 24.1% of children ages 0-17 and 17.5% of all people live in poverty. The Zoo’s targeted educational design will help alleviate poverty in this region. As a result of the VISTA member’s service, the Franklin Park Zoo will design effective and valuable educational programming that builds upon the strengths and assets of neighborhoods close to the Zoo in Suffolk County.

Member Duties : The VISTA will build the capacity of Franklin Park Zoo by assisting with outreach, coordination, and relationship building to co-create anti-poverty programming in Boston, MA, that also conserves wildlife. The new VISTA member will take the first month to familiarize and acclimate to zoo culture and expectations, the project background, project goals, and Year 1 relationships and accomplishments. They will then help develop best practices for updating community on project progress and milestones; support Zoo Core Team in development of strategic communication plan; continue creating, building, and maintaining relationships with community and service organizations. They will implement bi-directional co-design strategy with residents and service providers in the community throughout Year 2. Finally, the VISTA member will finalize content for the VISTA toolkit for local and national environmental conservation organizations to adapt; planning discussions of Year 3.
