The VISTA will perform tasks to support HEN grow into a sustainable organization, increase community understanding and engagement regarding overall health literacy, health safety and education. The VISTA member will also support program initiatives around population health initiatives, COVID-19 response and recovery, urban agriculture (literacy, cultural connection, food sustainability) as a part of the collaboration within regional networks. Health Equity Northland (HEN) works to develop community health, economic and wealth sustainability through community-based social impact strategies. We mobilize around a community health coordinator model that creates opportunities for people of diverse heritages to build valuable skills and compensation for grassroots engagement reaching communities most impacted by disparities by meeting them where they are; creating cross-cultural networks; and deliberately working at the intersections in values across generations and building relationships among elders, young adults and youth.
