Lawrence Community Shelter Outreach Coordinator

Grounded in human rights and social justice, our mission at the Lawrence Community Shelter (LCS) is to advance compassionate solutions for people facing homelessness through advocacy, shelter, and housing. The VISTA member will build the capacity of the organization by supporting the community engagement team and evaluating current donation-tracking systems and outreach strategies. Successful VISTA members will be organized, effective communicators that are able to work both independently and collaboratively. From this experience, members will gain project management skills and experience in outreach campaigns, networking with a variety of community stakeholders, and knowledge of how poverty impacts communities.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for tracking donated inventory and current needs. Additionally, the VISTA member will assist the Director of Community Engagement with researching new grant opportunities and funding sources, and designing an outreach campaign to raise support for LCS and awareness of how homelessness impacts the local community.
