OHA Preparedness Planning and Evaluation VISTA (Portland)
 
 
 
This position joins Oregon Health Authority’s statewide AmeriCorps VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. Selections are made on a rolling basis and early applications are strongly encouraged. The last day to submit an application is Sunday, July 31, 2022. This position is with the Health Security, Preparedness and Response Program. The mission of the HSPR Program is to develop public health systems to prepare for and respond to major and acute threats and emergencies that impact the health of people in Oregon. Based in Portland, home to Oregon’s largest cultural hub. The exceptional public transit system makes it easy explore and appreciate everything the city has to offer. Member Duties : As part of a health equity and COVID response initiative this position aims to include voices of low-income and vulnerable populations in statewide public health emergency preparedness planning and response. The AmeriCorps member will: 1) Using an equity and poverty alleviation lens, revise the statewide public health hazard vulnerability analyses. 2) Integrate nonprofit organizations serving low-income communities into the statewide Cascadia Rising 2022 earthquake exercise. 3) Support the ongoing COVID response at the state public health agency. 4) Evaluate the state public health incident management team’s ability to address the needs of low-income communities during the COVID-19 response. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve their communities through indirect service. They will either serve remotely, in a professional office, or hybrid. Applicants should possess four years of higher education or relevant work experience. Applicants should be flexible, adaptable, and a self-starter.
