OHA Public Health Volunteer Engagement VISTA (Portland)

This position joins Oregon Health Authority’s statewide AmeriCorps VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about Oregon Health Authority AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project, please visit: http://healthoregon.org/vista. Selections are made on a rolling basis and early applications are strongly encouraged. The last day to submit an application is Sunday July 17, 2022. This position is with the OHA Public Health Division, working with the State Emergency Registry of Volunteers in Oregon (SERV-OR) program. OHA is at the forefront of lowering and containing costs, improving quality and increasing access to health care in order to improve the lifelong health of Oregonians. SERV-OR is a database of licensed health care professionals who have registered to volunteer in response to Federal, State, and/or local emergencies. The registry allows these licensed volunteers to join state and local volunteer groups. Oregon needs a strong public health system to achieve better health and better care at lower costs, and SERV-OR is a vital tool in improving healthcare across Oregon. This position is in Portland, which is Oregon’s cultural center, dense with independent movie theaters and art galleries. The exceptional public transit system makes it easy to get around the city without a car, no matter if you’re visiting a food cart or a public park. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, Portland is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health. The OHA AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a diverse workforce to strengthen our work in Oregon communities. We value applicants who can bring lived experience to further OHA’s strategic goal to eliminate health inequities by 2030.
