AmeriCorps VISTA Changebuilders at Rowan University
 
 
 
Rowan University intends to connect students with a full array of pathways available to them for purposeful work and meaningful lives. The AmeriCorps VISTA position leverages the capacity of the Changebuilders Coalition of Campuses to assess our current status with respect to these objectives. We are generous with our time and resources, but we do not systematically assess the degree to which we are meeting the needs of the community. As a first step, we would like to conduct a self-study that would identify our community-based initiatives, describe our objectives and intended outcomes, and consider the available evidence of impact and benefit.

Member Duties : The Changebuilders VISTA member for Rowan University will work closely with campus constituents and leaders, including the Education of the Future Task Force, the Office of Volunteerism and Community Engagement, and the Center for Professional Success in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, to assemble available information, document institutional objectives, design a community needs assessment and/or gap analysis, and analyze the findings to inform future planning. In part, this will involve cataloging the University’s partnerships with non-profit organizations, government entities, and community organizations and describing the associated experiential learning practices and models within the context of each partner’s mission. The VISTA member will also evaluate existing and potential program/social impact assessment methods and report on the status of those efforts.
