Member Duties : The Climate Change VISTA member for Rowan University will work closely with faculty in the College of Education who are involved in educational policy and regulation, curriculum development, and assessment to learn how mandated curriculum standards are translated into the classroom. In addition to understanding and describing these logistical aspects, the VISTA member will examine the values and objectives of climate change educators and advocates across the disciplines. This will involve networking with the first cadre of Rowan’s new Catalysts for Sustainability faculty to discuss how they will approach their charge of developing an integrated vision for sustainability research and education at the college level. The Climate Change VISTA member will be uniquely positioned to explore perspectives on how the K-12 curriculum in general and the high school curriculum in particular can inspire younger generations to become leaders for environmental responsibility.
