Community that Cares VISTA
 
 
 
The Mental Health, Addiction and Recovery Services (MHARS) Board of Lorain County plans, funds and monitors public behavioral health services. The MHARS Board is at the intersection of major health initiatives for the well-being of people in our county, including the Mental Health and Substance Use Priorities of the Community Health Improvement Plan, Behavioral Health Disparities Community Readiness Assessment, the Suicide Prevention Coalition, and the Opiate Action Team. Our VISTA will serve alongside community health leaders in these efforts, in an education, engagement, and support role that will engage his/her/their creativity and project management skills.

Member Duties : The Community that Cares VISTA will work with the Lorain County MHARS Board to strengthen county and community efforts to prevent opioid overdose deaths, suicides, gambling and other related issues. The VISTA Member will engage community members and volunteers to assist in the planning the initiatives and coordination of activities of Communities that Cares with a special emphasis on addressing the social determinants of health.
