AmeriCorps VISTA Mentoring & Tutoring at Stockton University
Stockton University's Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning Community co-sponsors programs in the community, opens doors and creates connections for new and improved collaborations, maximizes resources to maintain and establish mutually beneficial relationships with the community, and assists our internal and external partners with research activities to deepen the scholarship of engagement. The Homework Completion Program was established in Atlantic City and Pleasantville mentor and support youth who live in economically disadvantaged areas of Atlantic County. The programs provide a safe and quiet space for youth to study, complete their homework and develop a relationship with tutors from Stockton University. The VISTA will help build capacity in this program through various activities.

Member Duties : The VISTA will be engaging in the following activities: Researching and creating an implementation plan for evidence-based practices; creating training modules for student leaders assigned for the Homework Programs; assisting the Community Projects Coordinator in the implementation of program-level assessment; updating and reporting on participant and outcomes data; creating a volunteer recruitment plan; and coordinating Stockton student volunteer registration and participation tracking.
