Through their service at sites in the Greater Portland area, MFS AmeriCorps Members support the agency's three critical community initiatives: 1. Strengthening early childhood development and building youth success through collaboration and innovation, so that every child gets a good start in life and has the opportunity to grow into healthy, educated, productive, and engaged members of our community. 2. Developing and promoting effective approaches to community-based health and wellness throughout the lifespan, so that people are equipped to play an active role in their well-being and societal costs for healthcare can be reduced. 3. Advancing individual and family economic well-being, so that people in our community can live with dignity, security and purpose.

Member Duties : This position will serve the MFS CASH Oregon program area. The member will: Receive training on basic individual tax law and certify with the IRS as a volunteer tax preparer; Support the development and tailoring of financial education curriculum to community needs; Provide tax resource navigation and partner development to reach under-resourced communities; Work with other MFS AmeriCorps members and staff to create tax education opportunities across programs; Recruit and coordinate community volunteers. The position is located in Portland, Oregon.
