MD DC MENTOR Washington DC Program Outreach and Support

We believe that in order to expand mentoring relationships to as many of the young people in Maryland and DC as possible, strong partnerships are needed between Maryland MENTOR DC and the hundreds of different stakeholders who are committed to this same mission and vision. Some of the stakeholders that are key to us are local and state lawmakers, corporate partners, research institutions, local management boards and other youth serving organizations. The object of this project is to expand our reach of the idea of quality mentoring across these stakeholders and, ultimately, invite them to partner with us and to join the movement. This ambitious work will not be possible without the high-level support from an excited, capable AmeriCorps VISTA member. We hope that is YOU! Lastly, because MENTOR Maryland DC is an intermediary (indirect service provider) you must be passionate about positive outcomes for young people but be interested in achieving these outcomes through high-level systems change work, which has become one of the hallmarks of our organization.

Member Duties : The DC Program Outreach VISTA will support Maryland DC MENTOR through targeted individual contact with the variety of mentoring programs across the Nation’s capital. This will aid in capacity building for Maryland MENTOR in that it allows us to extend our services directly to programs which, in turn, improves the lives of young people. The VISTA will compile a complete database of all mentoring programs and organizations throughout the state by ward jurisdiction to allow for pinpointed communication and outreach, and input in our CRM. VISTA will also be heavily involved in activities related to Mentoring National’s partnership with TFI/BAM, Maryland United 4 Youth Conference and National Mentoring Month (January). In addition, Program Outreach VISTA will begin targeted program outreach in focus regions of Washington DC, with an emphasis on Black and Brown led mentoring programs, and recruit programs for enrollment to NMRC, NQMS process or other program resources.
