Stewards VISTA: Earthday.org

Emerging from the first Earth Day in 1970, EARTHDAY.ORG’s (EDO)mission is to diversify, educate, and activate the worlds’ largest environmental movement. Education and outreach are central to EDO’s mission. Currently, Education Program activities are centered around its climate literacy campaign, around five overlapping mindsets. These include mindsets for knowledge and learning; economic and environmental justice; civic and political engagement; innovation and entrepreneurship, networks and communication. The VISTA’s portfolio would include enhancing the education team’s mission to develop and implement environmental justice, economic equity, and green futures. The VISTA project would be an essential part of our education team working to create activity and curriculum for teachers and learners local, nationally, and internationally. These activities would showcase the critical importance of environmental education and strategies for the public to take action around issues of environmental justice. Furthermore, the VISTA would take a leading role in participating in community and outreach events including our large, annual Earth Day event on the National Mall. The VISTA would play a critical role within the education program to support and amplify work in support of EDO’s mission. EDO is centrally located in downtown Washington DC, providing unique opportunities to for networking and other social or professional opportunities.
