AmeriCorps VISTA at William Paterson University, Wayne NJ
The VISTA Changebuilder volunteer will work at William Paterson University, Campus Activities, Service and Leadership (CASL) Office. The primary function will be to implement and coordinate the Changebuilder program using service learning as the strategy to address community needs related to education, public health, economic development, neighborhood revitalization, homelessness, poverty, and hunger. The VISTA will work with WP students to create community connections and coordinate programs and activities to inform and engage the WP community in civic engagement, social change and service projects.

Member Duties : Assist in developing the William Paterson (WP) VISTA Changebuilder program by researching civic engagement service opportunities for students. This includes working with community partners to create meaningful service-learning opportunities, recruiting students inclusive of all identities, ethnicities, races, religions, or socioeconomic backgrounds. Educating the WP community about food insecurity. Develop effective processes for successful food donation drives. Creating presentations about the program to recruit students and educate community partners of the mutual benefits. Preparing students to effectively represent the university. Schedule and track volunteer hours. Developing innovative ways to document community benefits and mutual growth through students’ experiences. Develop recognition opportunities for students and community partners. Participate in a statewide peer network.
