AmeriCorps VISTA at William Paterson University
 
 
 
Campus Activities, Service and Leadership (CASL) provide co-curricular experiences for students. In addition to overseeing 80+ student organization, new student orientation, major university programs, we also oversee civic engagement opportunities for the university and overs see operations of the Pioneer Food Pantry. The Pioneer Pantry serves over 200 students each month, and the department runs multiple service opportunities every week. Skills needed include: - Strong written and verbal communication, organization, flexibility. '- Candidates must have a demonstrated experience with coordinating and implementing events and programs, working with community agencies in a voluntary capacity, and excellence in working with people of different identities, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. VISTA Responsibilities: - Managing/Coordinating Volunteer Program and Volunteer Recruitment: (ex. improve volunteer recruitment plan) * Recruit student volunteers for service programs, Changebuilders, and assist with the Pioneer Food Pantry. Train, track and recognize student participation. - Public Relations/Communications (ex. meeting follow-up, training modules for staff, l meeting logistics): *Promote civic engagement programs and opportunities thru social media, on campus platforms, flyers, etc. Conduct trainings for students regarding civic engagement and Changebuilders. Assist with promotion of Pioneer Food Pantry. - Programming Research, Development and Delivery (ex. Impact Assessment, evaluation) *Create civic engagement opportunities for students to engage with on and off campus. Track participation in our digital badge program. Conduct workshops for students about importance of serving our communities. Assess programming goals and outcomes, including tracking participation to meet annual goals. Assess student needs for Pioneer Food Pantry, and prepare monthly reports.

Member Duties : Assist in developing the William Paterson (WP) VISTA Changebuilder program by researching civic engagement service opportunities for students. This includes working with community partners to create meaningful service-learning opportunities, recruiting students inclusive of all identities, ethnicities, races, religions, or socioeconomic backgrounds. Creating presentations about the program to recruit students and educate community partners of the mutual benefits. Preparing students to effectively represent the university. Schedule and track volunteer hours. Developing innovative ways to document community benefits and mutual growth through students’ experiences. Develop recognition opportunities for students and community partners. Participate in a statewide peer network.
